A Prize So High

by Duncan Jones

I was ordered to try for a prize so high

In the infinite, grassland sea

With our lantern lights under moonlit nights

But the queen was keen and could never be seen

And the land was wild and free

We took other prizes, a variety of sizes

In the infinite, grassland sea

All of antlers and horn, and they earned her scorn

For the queen was keen and could never be seen

And the land was wild and free

Oh, some of mine fell, she could stalk and smell

In the infinite, grassland sea

Seven down to four, as she settled our score

For the queen was keen and could never be seen

And the land was wild and free

We had wanted for more, until we heard her roar

In the infinite, grassland sea

Then some looked for home, but how far could they roam?

For the queen was keen and could never be seen

And the land was wild and free

Still I tracked and traced her, though I hadn’t yet faced her

In the infinite, grassland sea

And she took another man with a slash of her hand

For the queen was keen and could never be seen

And the land was wild and free

So we were down to three, had her trapped in a tree

In the infinite, grassland sea

Then we learned in the night was an unfair fight

For the queen was keen and could never be seen

And the land was wild and free

Our shots all missed her, but we met with her sisters

In the infinite, grassland sea

Their rage so wild as to make her look mild

For the queen was keen and could never be seen

And the land was wild and free

Then three down to two, so now what would you do?

In the infinite, grassland sea

I’d take the streets of Eire over this Hell’s fire

For the queen was keen and could never be seen

And the land was wild and free

In a flash the only one who was left was my gun

In the infinite, grassland sea

Empty of bite, though, so how could I fight?

For the queen was keen and could never be seen

And the land was wild and free

In the end she was sly, and was smarter than I

In the infinite, grassland sea

Though she pitied me, she had led me to the king

And the king was keen, he was slow and mean

And the land was wild and free

In the end she was sly, and was smarter than I

In the infinite, grassland sea

Though she pitied me, she had led me to the king

And the king was keen, he was slow and mean

And the land was wild and free
