The Beautiful Wings And The Dragonflies

by Duncan Jones

They set me up to take me down

I guess they thought they could wear my crown

But they didn’t know that I had friends ...

Was given strength, but I was just

Even took my time for the little ones

Never knew they’d come to rescue me ...

The wind still calls my name to rise

I walk with the beautiful wings

And the dragonflies

And I’ve come back

Yes I survived, I’m still alive

They’ll have to hit harder than that if they want me to die

And the little ones, they went to work ...

Now that’s the past, a story to tell

They got away, but I remember well

And ready or not, it has begun ...

The wind still calls my name to rise

I walk with the beautiful wings

And the dragonflies

And I’ve come back

I see their eyes, again they’re closing in

But if I’m going down then they’re coming with

I can’t lie down, it’s not my style

The sun is gone, the night is cold

The guests of honor the wicked and bold

I’ve seen their worst, they’ve not seen mine ...

The wind still calls my name to rise

I walk with the beautiful wings

And the dragonflies

And I’ve come back

A king is taken down by his friends/peers but is saved by some magical butterflies/dragonflies (the nobodies that he looked out for in the past.) He then returns to take revenge knowing that he’s probably going down again.
