The Wise King

“Excuse us your grace,”

Said advisers in haste

“We’ve a matter in need of discussing

So ladies, good day

On your way si vous plait

For we’ve no place for gossip or fussing!”

Then the maps were rolled out

Quickly followed by shouts

Over politics, money, and trade

Such matters and more

Even talk about war

And some reckless decisions were made

Well they all had their votes

Sharing history’s quotes

Each proving the others quite weak

Then the King raised a hand

And with that took command

And at last it was his turn to speak

“This is all well and good

And yes I’ve understood

That some here see red, others green

But before I can say

I’ll need surely one day

To run all of these plans by the Queen ... ”
