The Zebra Just Couldn't Succeed

by Duncan Jones

"Look at what I can do! And so easily too!"

Said the Flamingo, smiling so big

"Between me and you, I never feel blue!"

Said the rhino, dancing a jig

Laughing from high, almost touching the sky

The snake smiled and swayed in the breeze

While a quick social post saw the wildebeest boast

As he "worked from home" under the trees

"Hey Zebra let's dance, before I go tour France

They all said, "Come on travel with us!

Forget all those worries and frustrating stories

Do tell us now what is the fuss?

You're never out late, you skip every date

You don't enjoy trendy new joints

If you wish and you try, then of course you can fly!

Just ignore it when life disappoints!"

Zebra said, "Yeah I guess, I would love to stress less

But tomorrow I have to work early

So I can't go tonight, but have a good flight

We'll catch up when you're back in town surely

Work on this or do that? Jesus that's a big cat!

Why is it they always find me?

Lions are color blind, so how can they find?

I just don't see how this can be?"

"You invite it," they said, "It's all in your head

Just pretend it's all good when it's not

Don't think about why, just forget it or lie!"

Said the Zebra, "Oh that's great, thanks a lot."
